Job Description

Role: Datacentre Technician

Contract: 6 month rolling

Responsibilities

As a successful Data centre Technician, your success will be measured by:

  • Demonstrating strong professional values and contributing positively to organisational culture.

  • Promoting a strong culture of safety and security within global data centre operations by complying with established safety programs and policies and completing required compliance assessments.
  • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Datacentre Technician, your daily activities will include:

  • Supporting the deployment of on-site datacentre physical infrastructure.
  • Installing, replacing, and troubleshooting cables and hardware.
  • Handling data-bearing devices (eg hard drives, solid-state drives).
  • Working within a ticket-based work management environment.
  • Moving equipment using pallet jacks or other assisted lifting equipment.
  • Assisting the Datacentre Inventory and Asset Management team with shipping, receiving, and inventory management during periods of high workload, as required.
Qualifications

Applications will be reviewed from candidates who meet the following Required Qualifications:

  • College Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • Experience handling or maintaining technical equipment or machinery.
Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following are advantageous:

  • Experience supporting IT equipment or related technologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) or Basic Structured Cabling (BSC).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights, with or without equipment assistance.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English to support regional and global teams.
  • A strong desire to learn, grow, and develop new technical skills.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours, including weekends and/or holidays.
