Job Description

Job Title: SC Cleared Data Scientist/Data Engineer

Job Description

This role focuses on designing, developing, and operationalising secure, scalable AI and data platforms within a highly secure Azure-based environment. You will combine data engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud platform development, and operational analytics to enable machine-speed intelligence, advanced analytics, and agentic AI capabilities. The position supports the detection, assessment, and measurement of information threats and operational effects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams in an Agile delivery framework. The role requires active UK Security Check (SC) clearance and is suitable for UK sole nationals, with occasional travel to client sites in the South of the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and analyse structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including OSINT, SOCMINT, telemetry, and operational datasets.
  • Develop and support Azure-native AI and analytics platforms using cloud-native services, containerised applications, and modern data engineering methodologies.
  • Create and optimise reusable AI, machine learning, and agentic AI capabilities that support analytical workflows, mission planning, monitoring, assessment, and operational decision-making.
  • Build and maintain data models, feature stores, graph databases, and analytical datasets to support network mapping, audience segmentation, pattern-of-life analysis, and threat detection.
  • Implement MLOps, AIOps, and SecML processes, including model monitoring, bias testing, explainability, governance controls, audit logging, drift detection, and rollback mechanisms.
  • Develop analytical solutions that integrate machine learning, natural language processing, graph analytics, clustering techniques, entity resolution, and causal inference methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, cloud architects, intelligence analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-value capabilities using Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Design and implement dashboards, visualisations, reporting solutions, and measurement frameworks that quantify operational effectiveness and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Support the deployment of AI capabilities across multiple operational domains while ensuring consistency, governance, security, and compliance requirements are maintained.
  • Participate fully in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Conduct functional, system, and non-functional testing activities to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of data and AI solutions.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, solution designs, implementation plans, and operational support materials to enable knowledge transfer and long-term capability sustainment.

Essential Skills

  • Active UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
  • Eligibility as a UK sole national to work on secure projects.
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining secure, scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data, including OSINT, SOCMINT, telemetry, and operational datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Strong background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data engineering within cloud environments.
  • experience implementing MLOps, AIOps, and security-focused machine learning (SecML) processes, including monitoring, governance, and rollback mechanisms.
  • experience using data visualisation and Business Intelligence platforms such as Power BI.
  • Knowledge of agentic AI architectures, autonomous agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and large language models.
  • experience with graph technologies such as Neo4j and Azure Cosmos DB or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of security, governance, Zero Trust architectures, and responsible AI frameworks.
  • experience working within Defence, Government, National Security, or other highly regulated environments.
  • experience working in Scrum and Agile delivery teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • experience integrating machine learning, natural language processing, graph analytics, clustering techniques, entity resolution, and causal inference into analytical solutions.
  • Familiarity with feature stores, graph databases, and advanced analytical datasets to support network mapping, audience segmentation, and pattern-of-life analysis.
  • experience designing dashboards, visualisations, and reporting solutions that support measurement frameworks and operational effectiveness assessment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders, in an Agile environment.
  • Strong documentation skills for producing technical designs, implementation plans, and operational support materials.
