We are hiring a Data Science Manager to join our Delivery team, responsible for ensuring optimal rider supply to meet consumer demand locally, while maintaining speed, reliability, and network efficiency. You will lead a team focusing on areas like rider pay, incentives, supply and demand, load management, and network economics. This role is highly specific to Deliveroo's marketplace and requires balancing multiple interconnected outcomes across riders, consumers, and the wider delivery network. This London-based role involves reporting to a Senior Data Science Manager and partnering closely with Operations, Product, Machine Learning, and Engineering teams. You'll own the analytical direction and impact within Delivery, leading and developing a team of 4-6 data scientists. Your team will work across critical areas such as rider pay, incentives and surge pricing, rider supply and fleet sizing, balancing supply and consumer demand, load management, and understanding rider behaviour. You will identify high-value problems, guide analytical approaches, and ensure work leads to clear operational, product, and commercial decisions. Applying systems thinking is key, as changes can have network-wide effects, requiring you to support informed trade-offs. This is a hands-on management role with a significant portion of time dedicated to direct technical contribution, such as investigating market changes and interpreting experiments. You will maintain high analytical standards and support team development through coaching and feedback.Delivery is central to Deliveroo's customer proposition, directly impacting rider supply, order speed, and marketplace efficiency. In this role, you will tackle distinctive and highly interconnected problems in network economics, logistics, and rider operations. You will have substantial autonomy to shape the team's roadmap, influence senior stakeholders, and develop a strong data science team. You will apply experimentation, causal inference, and systems thinking to decisions affecting Deliveroo's growth, service quality, and network efficiency. We seek someone comfortable with ambiguity, capable of creating structure, and aligning teams around crucial problems.
