About BARB

BARB (The Broadcasters' Audience Research Board) is responsible for measuring the number of people watching television in the UK on behalf of television companies and the advertising industry. The BARB Operations team delivers daily TV ratings to the UK broadcast industry and associated agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate data received from BARB homes and decide if any potential faults need to be followed up.
  • Review data collected from new homes and decide if a home has passed all vital checks and criteria to become a live home on the active panel.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal Panel Admin Team and external field engineers to progress issues precluding homes from reporting accurately.
  • Provide information and guidance to field engineers on the source of problems causing issues with data quality.
  • Use a variety of tools and dashboards to investigate issues that might have a detrimental impact on data quality.
  • Perform investigations to understand any unusual trends or patterns of viewing behaviour observed in daily results.
  • Supervise the performance and efficiency of other members of the BARB team, including technicians and data entry.
  • Ensure that all procedures are carried out in accordance with the client specification.
  • Undertake QC activities within specified timeframes to ensure that contracts' Service Level Agreements are satisfied.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Good knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Access and Power BI.
  • Experience of running statistical data analyses in a previous role or to satisfy an academic qualification.
  • Familiarity with various tools and dashboards used for data investigation and quality control.
  • Preferred but not essential: SQL/Python.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret data accurately to identify potential faults and unusual trends.
  • Good time management skills.
  • A confident person with good communication skills.
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours on a rota basis at weekends and bank holidays.
