Data Officer

Please note: This post requires office attendance for a minimum of three days per week. Interviews will be conducted face-to-face.

We are seeking to appoint a Data Officer within the Children's Services Performance Team. This is a permanent, full-time position at Grade 7 (£31,537 - £34,434 Per annum). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Council's statutory duties under the Education Act 1996 and Department for Education guidance by ensuring the accurate and timely import of school attendance data into the Council's central systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain data systems in accordance with the System Administration Policy.
• Import, validate, and manage attendance data from over 100 schools.
• Manually investigate and resolve data anomalies, including failed MIS migrations, incomplete pupil records, and inaccuracies arising from school submissions. This includes direct data entry and correction where automated processes are insufficient or unavailable.
• Liaise with schools and external agencies to ensure data accuracy and timeliness.
• Identify and resolve data errors, including failed MIS migrations and missing pupil records.
• Support the implementation of new systems and upgrades.

Essential Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to data handling.
• Experience working with school data systems or similar MIS platforms.
• Ability to communicate effectively with schools and internal stakeholders.
• Understanding of statutory requirements relating to school attendance data. This role is critical to the Council's ability to meet its legal obligations and to support schools in delivering effective attendance monitoring and early intervention.
