Job Description
Data Networks and Telecoms Engineer (GRADE VII) 
Required for a public body based in Cork City.
Responsibilities- Working with third parties on continuous improvements to the network infrastructure, including design, configuration, and implementation of data networks ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Collaborating with the internal ICT team to create network solutions that support national, regional, and local operations and patient care.
- Deploying and maintaining wired and wireless networks across hospital premises.
- Managing contracts with telecom and data network providers, ensuring best value and service quality.
- Keeping legacy and VoIP phone systems operational and ensuring uninterrupted communication services.
- Integrating telecom systems with other hospital technologies for streamlined operations.
- Troubleshooting and resolving telecom related issues promptly.
- Implementing and maintaining robust network security measures to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Conducting regular security audits, updating security protocols, monitoring network traffic for unusual activities, and responding to incidents.
- Monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing system performance.
- Performing regular maintenance tasks, including software updates, hardware upgrades, and system patches.
- Collaborating with vendors for technical support and issue resolution.
- Developing and implementing disaster recovery plans to ensure network availability during critical situations, and configuring redundant systems and fail over mechanisms.
- Maintaining detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Enabling reporting of network usage and performance, generating regular reports on network performance, usage, and security incidents, and providing insights and recommendations.
- Relevant degree in a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
