Data Modeler

Location: Hybrid, London-based (2-3 days in-office per week)
Contract: 6 months, Inside IR35, £500 - £600 day rate

Overview:

Michael James Associates are partnered with a leading Insurance Broker who are recruiting a Data Modeler to design and maintain enterprise-wide conceptual, logical, and physical data models. The role supports consistent, scalable, business-aligned data structures across analytics, reporting, and operations, with a strong focus on insurance data domains and stakeholder collaboration. This work will contribute to a greenfield project to stand up a new modern Azure/Snowflake data platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and govern enterprise conceptual, logical, and physical data models and patterns (3NF, dimensional, Data Vault).
• Define and maintain data dictionaries/metadata, ensuring data quality, MDM, lineage, and governance standards.
• Partner with business and engineering to align models to analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
• Work within agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe; Jira), managing Epics/User Stories/backlogs.
• Document and present models clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years' data modelling experience across conceptual, logical, and physical layers; deep expertise in 3NF, dimensional, Data Vault.
• Insurance experience (London Market advantageous); ACORD knowledge desirable.
• Proficient with cloud data platforms (Azure/Snowflake/Databricks preferable), advanced SQL and data modelling tools
• Strong grounding in data governance, data quality, MDM, metadata/lineage.
• Proven experience in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Jira) with excellent stakeholder communication.
