Job Description

Join us as a Data Governance Analyst at Barclays, where you will be responsible for delivering data quality, lineage, and metadata outcomes across assigned data domains. You will play a key role in defining and executing robust data quality rules, aligning with enterprise policies and risk frameworks to support our data-driven objectives. You will lead efforts to address data issues, oversee detailed planning for data governance initiatives, and drive progress through structured forums - ensuring transparent reporting, effective training, and consistent documentation that is both audit-ready and business-friendly.

To be successful as a Data Governance Analyst, you should have:

  • A practical understanding of data analysis concepts and experience in data and records management capabilities, including Data Lineage, Data Definitions, Data Quality Management, Data Quality Reporting, Issue Management, and Issue Remediation.
  • A good understanding of SME, Retail, Cards, and Wealth domain knowledge within Financial Services, or a combination of these.
  • Working knowledge of Change Management, Process Excellence, Project Management, and functional experience in Data Analysis.
  • Experience in scoping and prioritization discussions regarding data elements or attributes based on criticality or materiality.

Highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience in Data Architecture, Data Analytics, Data Modelling, Self-Assessment, Policy Assurance, Quality Assurance, and Control Testing.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries and SQL-driven data analysis.
  • Experience working in a CDO function on Data Quality, Issues Management, and Remediation.
  • Understanding of tools used within the industry to manage data quality and measures.

This role is hybrid and based in Knutsford.

Purpose of the role

To develop, implement, and maintain effective governance frameworks for all data and records across the bank's global operations.

Accountabilities

  • Development and maintenance of a comprehensive data and records governance framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Monitoring data quality and records metrics and compliance with standards across the organization.
  • Identification and addressing of data and records management risks and gaps.
  • Development and implementation of a records management program ensuring proper identification, classification, storage, retention, retrieval, and disposal of records.
  • Development and implementation of a data governance strategy aligned with the bank's overall data management strategy and business objectives.
  • Provision of guidance and training on Data and Records Management standards.
