Our client is recruiting for an experienced Data Engineer to be responsible for the design and development of data and database systems, aligned with their enterprise data engineering strategy. This role will work closely with the Data Systems Manager to ensure that all solutions meet the data governance standards and cybersecurity requirements.

Key skills & experience

Substantial experience of data solution architecture in a large, complex organisation.

Experience with Oracle or SQL Server RDBMS.

Experience with SQL Server DBMS

Significant knowledge of database management systems.

Significant knowledge of Cloud hosting, infrastructure and technologies

Data and database solution design & architecture.

Designing modular architecture.

Public cloud infrastructure.

Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric and Dataverse.

Overview of responsibilities

Design, build and maintain efficient and reliable data pipelines and ETL processes.

Develop and optimise database systems (relational and non-relational) to support academic, administrative and research needs.

Collaborate with data analysts, researchers and IT teams to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.

Ensure data quality, integrity and security in line with policies and regulatory requirements (eg, GDPR).

Support the implementation of data governance frameworks and metadata management.

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to data infrastructure.

Contribute to the development of data architecture and enterprise data strategies.

Document data workflows, processes, and technical specifications.
