About the Role:
Are you passionate about data engineering and ready to shape scalable data ecosystems that drive impactful business decisions? We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Diagnostics Operations team. In this key position, you'll lead the development of cutting-edge data infrastructure, collaborating with data scientists, domain experts, and engineers to deliver high-quality data products and pipelines.
This is a strategic role where you'll influence data architecture, standards, and governance across global operations-while mentoring peers and fostering a culture of innovation.
Your Responsibilities:
- Architect & Build Scalable Systems:
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable real-time and batch data pipelines using best-in-class technologies.
- Deliver High-Quality Data Products:
- Develop robust, FAIR-compliant data products that meet business and compliance needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with stakeholders to model data landscapes and define secure, efficient data exchange methods.
- Data Ingestion & Processing:
- Transform diverse data sources into actionable formats using platforms such as Snowflake. Create reusable, analytics-ready pipelines.
- Lead Governance & Mentorship:
- Drive standards within a Data Mesh framework, contribute to data governance policies, and provide guidance to other engineers.
- Infrastructure & Security:
- Ensure solutions are aligned with information security standards and collaborate with infrastructure teams to shape optimal tech stacks.
- Drive Innovation:
- Shape the engineering roadmap, promote knowledge sharing, and elevate engineering practices.
- Maintain Technical Excellence:
- Stay current with data tech stacks and tools like Ataccama or Monte Carlo for observability and data quality.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, including leading and mentoring teams.
- Proven success in architecting and scaling large data systems and pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, SQL, or Scala.
- Experience with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and modern data warehouses (preferably Snowflake).
- Solid knowledge of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Expertise with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiar with Git and robust testing/monitoring practices.
- Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong team collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
- Experience with REST APIs and data integrations.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., GMP, FDA) and quality systems.
- Knowledge of machine learning workflows and platforms like Dataiku.
- Exposure to AI-driven data products and software engineering best practices.
