️ What You'll Do as a Data Engineer

We're looking for a Data Engineer to play a key role in the next phase of our platform evolution. This is a hybrid role, with your time split equally:

  • 50% with the Data team, focusing on our analytics stack and the quality of data we ingest and produce.

  • 50% with the Platform Engineering team, helping shape the backend systems that support safe, scalable healthcare delivery.

Some things you'll do as a Data Engineer

  • Architect and build scalable data infrastructure - You'll contribute to the design and implementation of robust data pipelines that can handle our rapid growth, with a focus on event based architectures rather than traditional ETL methods

  • Drive our cloud migration strategy - Contribute to the transition from GCP to AWS, migrating our data warehouse from BigQuery to Redshift, supporting our analysts, migrate our ETL from Dataform to dbt, while maintaining zero downtime for critical healthcare data

  • Collaborate across teams to unlock data insights - Work closely with Platform, Analytics, and Product teams to ensure data flows seamlessly from patient devices to actionable healthcare insights

  • Own data governance and security - Implement and maintain robust access controls, data masking, and compliance frameworks that meet healthcare regulatory requirements

  • Optimise for performance and cost - Continuously monitor and improve our data infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness as we expand across multiple markets

What Experience You'll Bring to the Team

Cloud & Infrastructure:

  • AWS - Hands-on experience with Redshift, S3, VPC networking, Lambda, and IAM configurations

  • Data warehouse migration experience - Proven track record migrating large-scale systems (e.g., BigQuery Redshift)

  • Infrastructure as Code - Experience with tools like Terraform

Data Engineering:

  • ELT pipeline mastery - Experience with tools like Fivetran, dataform, dbt, and Airflow for building reliable data workflows

  • Custom integrations - Strong Python skills for building data ingestion from third-party APIs, and developing cloud functions

  • Data governance - Experience implementing RBAC, data masking, and compliance frameworks in data platforms

  • SQL proficiency - Advanced SQL skills for complex data transformations and optimisations

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of GitHub Actions or other CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience with Lightdash or other open-source BI tools

  • Familiarity with GCP, especially BigQuery and Dataform (helpful for our migration)

  • Background in healthcare, MedTech, or similarly regulated sectors

  • Experience with real-time data streaming architectures
