Data Engineer

Background :

• We are currently addressing several critical issues in how we ingest, classify, and extract value from online marketing data, in particular, organic and paid search data (main source is Google related). The aim is to improve the accuracy, usability, and efficiency of the current setup while ensuring the data supports meaningful business decisions.
• Simplify and rationalize the search data model to focus on the most valuable tables and metrics.
• Introduce improved documentation and internal training to build broader understanding. Integrate search data with other internal and external data sources for reporting and analysis
• set up quality checks and monitoring to ensure data quality
• Refine the search query classification model to include more granular and actionable categories.
• Redesign the organic revenue estimation logic using historical performance and validated behavioral data.
• Evaluate options to modernize or rebuild the ELT pipeline with stability, cost, and scalability in mind. Desired knowledge, experience, competence, skills etc .

Qualifications :

• (BSc, MSc, PhD) in computer science, software engineering, informatics or equivalent Strong knowledge in designing efficient, robust and automated data pipelines, ETL workflows, data warehousing and Big Data processing
• Advanced experience working with SQL to build data pipelines. Proficiency in Python. Hands-on experience in Google Cloud platform and DBT is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with data modeling for BI & ML for performance and efficiency. Experience in driving new data engineering developments (e.g. apply new cutting edge data engineering methods to improve performance of data integration, use new tools to improve data quality and etc.)
• Familiarity with agile ways of working.
• Experience with web or search data is a plus.
• Data products and data mesh knowledge: experience with practical implementation from levels and schemas to data contracts and data access management
• Communication and interpersonal skills to help advocate for the data mesh, but also to guide colleagues technically (stakeholder management).
