Data Engineer - (Active SC Needed!)

Our client are a top tier consultancy looking for a Data Engineer with active SC on a 6 months contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.

• Build and optimise data platforms and data lakes within AWS (Glue, Athena, Redshift, S3, EMR, etc.).

• Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards are met in line with government and GDS guidelines.

• Collaborate with Data Architects, Analysts, and wider engineering teams to deliver high-quality, reliable data solutions.

• Support migration of Legacy systems to AWS cloud-based data solutions.

• Work within agile delivery teams, contributing to sprint planning and technical design.

• Ensure compliance with government security and data handling policies.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer within central government or large-scale public sector projects.

• Strong expertise with AWS cloud services: S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, EMR.

• Proficiency in Python and/or Scala for data processing.

• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.

• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

• Knowledge of data governance, quality, and security best practices in government projects.

• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps environments.

• Active SC clearance (or SC eligible).

Desirable Skills

• Experience with GDS standards and government digital service delivery.

• Exposure to streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis).

• Experience working alongside multi-disciplinary teams (BA's, Architects, User Researchers, Service Designers).

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
