Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Data Business Analyst for a 3 month contract based in London with remote working available (hybrid)

Purpose of the role:
You will join a Risk Data Function responsible for strengthening data governance, improving data quality, and supporting regulatory expectations including BCBS239. The role requires someone who has genuinely operated in this space, someone who understands the realities of risk data, governance, and reporting, not just the theory.

You'll work closely with Risk, Data, Technology, and Governance teams to define and enhance data controls, improve lineage transparency, and support monthly governance cycles.

What you'll do:

• Act as a subject matter analyst within a Risk Data or BCBS239 environment.
• Support Risk Appetite, Risk Reporting, or broader Risk Data initiatives.
• Define and document Key Data Elements (KDEs), data lineage, data dictionaries, and profiling outputs.
• Map and assess data controls, ensuring alignment with governance and regulatory expectations.
• Work across both Financial Risk and Non-Financial Risk domains.
• Produce monthly governance packs, dashboards, and senior level reporting.
• Manage compressed timelines and multiple parallel workstreams with confidence.
• Own and drive your portfolio of deliverables with minimal supervision.
• Maintain and update change management artefacts including trackers, issue logs, Kanbans, SOPs, and RAID items.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk, Data, Technology, and Operations.
• Provide clear documentation and structured analysis to support decision-making.

The skills you'll need:

• Proven experience working on BCBS239, Risk Data Aggregation, or within a Risk Data Function.
• Background in Risk Appetite, Risk Reporting, or similar risk aligned roles.
• Strong understanding of KDEs, data profiling, lineage, data dictionaries, and controls mapping.
• Knowledge of both Financial Risk (eg, Credit, Market, Liquidity) and Non-Financial Risk (eg, Operational Risk, Conduct, Compliance)
• Ability to produce high quality governance materials under tight deadlines.
• Strong organisational skills and proficiency with change management tools and artefacts.
• Stakeholder management experience.
