On behalf of the Intellectual Property Office, we are looking for a Data Analyst (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract based REMOTELY with occasional visits to Newport.
Note: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position, (and speed at which we require a postholder in situ), preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance

Key Tasks and Deliverables
At the IPO, as a Data Analyst, you will be key in the delivery of our digital Transformation program. You will analyse the data that is the foundation to enable all the other services to move into the new transformed system.
You will apply your understanding of Data Analysis, working collaboratively with other data experts, to migrate data from our Legacy systems into the new transformed system, and ensuring that we meet the data needs of the other services.
You will be joining a well-established multidisciplinary Data team to:
. Apply data analysis tools and techniques to analyse and document the data that is held in SQL databases and data files for our Legacy source systems
. liaise with data engineers, data stewards, data architects and business SMEs to agree and document what data will need to be migrated to the new system
. Capture decisions regarding data that does not need to be migrated and analyse the possible impacts
. identify data quality issues and advise on potential solutions to extract, transform and clean the data before loading it into the destination data store
. assist with the mapping of the migrated data from the source systems into the target data model
. define how data across multiple source data stores can be brought together and linked into the target data model
. collaborate with Service Teams to document any new data requirements that come out of their Discovery phase
. summarise and present data and conclusions as outcomes of the data analysis to other teams in transformation, using the most appropriate format for clarity
. Capture the journey and life cycle of the data in our Legacy system so that we understand any current touchpoints that will impact how and when the data could be migrated
. Understand and document the metadata that exists for our Legacy systems

. Business Glossary
. Reference data mapping (new for TM&D, reuse of Patents)
. Data Profiling evidence and analysis
. Data Quality Rules/Data Cleansing/Data Transformation Rules
. Data mapping documents and Data Lineage
. Data Privacy considerations
. Data Security considerations
Relevant skills and experience:
. Background in Data Analysis with demonstrable experience of using data analysis tools and techniques
. Strong Microsoft SQL Server skills
. Able to work independently, reaching out to both technical and non-technical people to understand the data
. Strong analytical skills - ability to interpret complex data sets and identify potential data quality issues
. Good understanding of data models and experience of source to target data mapping
. Good communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
. Experience of working on migration projects using ETL pipelines
. Experience of Azure DevOps would be desirable
. Awareness of data standards, regulations and GDPR
. Experience of Data Catalogue tools, would be desirable, ideally Purview
. Experience of Business Glossaries and Taxonomies would be desirable
