D365 F&O Solution Architect

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic D365 F&O Solution Architect to lead the technical vision, governance, and advisory support for a major Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) transformation. This senior-level role will serve as the client-side technical authority, ensuring alignment between business goals and solution design, while managing third-party vendors and driving architectural governance across the programme.

The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to CxO stakeholders and programme leadership, able to challenge constructively, steer decisions with authority, and ensure the successful delivery of a fit-for-purpose, scalable D365 F&O solution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the technical design authority and architectural lead for the D365 F&O implementation programme.

• Operate as a trusted advisor to CxO and senior stakeholders, translating complex technical issues into business-aligned decisions.

• Lead the definition, assurance, and evolution of the solution architecture, ensuring it meets strategic, functional, and non-functional requirements.

• Provide client-side oversight of third-party system integrators, ensuring architectural consistency, adherence to standards, and delivery against milestones.

• Establish and chair technical design forums and governance boards.

• Conduct thorough reviews of technical documentation, integrations, configurations, and customisations.

• Lead the resolution of design conflicts, risks, or delivery deviations in collaboration with stakeholders and vendors.

• Support the delivery of a secure, scalable, and supportable solution, aligned with Microsoft best practices and client IT strategy.

• Ensure traceability between requirements, design decisions, and delivered solution components.

Required Experience & Skills:

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in ERP architecture, with deep knowledge of D365 F&O (Finance, SCM, Projects, HR or related modules).

• Proven background in governing large-scale D365 F&O implementations, ideally in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

• Experience in executive stakeholder engagement, with the credibility to advise and challenge at Board and programme leadership levels.

• Demonstrated experience managing third-party SIs and vendors across the full project life cycle.

• Deep knowledge of Azure integration services, Power Platform, Data Management Framework, LCS, and best practice D365 deployment methodologies.

• Strong understanding of security, performance, and scalability within a cloud ERP landscape.

• Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Relevant Microsoft certifications (eg, Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert) highly desirable.
