About the Opportunity

Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver £7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

The Project

We are currently looking for a Responsible Engineer to join the team to work on the SRP Project.

SRP is a new retreatment plant that will treat and re-package all nuclear material into new 100 year packages to be transferred, safely and securely into the existing Sellafield Product and Residue Store through a connecting transfer corridor.

The project is currently in the 7th year of build on site with the project moving towards more architectural, building services and equipment fit out phase. Ongoing detailing design and support to manufacturing design require a large CS&A team to support construction design and manage any project design change requirements resulting design or product development.

The CSA team is a mixture of Structural and Architectural resources involved with both production of the functional design information and support of site-based operations which includes reviewing TQs, attending constructability reviews and acceptance of vendor produced design information.

The Role

As a CS&A Responsible Engineer you will be expected to lead the CS&A team in maintaining or updating the baseline design, implementation and delivery of specified design tasks to support work on site that achieves safety, functional and business requirements to support the Project Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities could include

  • Leading a team of CS&A engineers and architects in the definition, implementation and delivery of specified functional works that achieves safety, functional and business requirements.
  • Delivery of the CS&A design through construction including updates to the project assurance with internal and external regulators.
  • Production of Schedule and identification of key milestones.
  • Develop deliverables list and format (drawings, specifications, reports, BIM etc.).
  • Resource identification, forecasting and management.
  • Reporting into project leadership team including Area Engineering Manager(s), Project Engineering Manager (PEM), Project Managers, Information managers and Programme managers as appropriate

As a CS&A Responsible Engineer you will already have

  • Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or equivalent) subject- MEng (preferred)
  • Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership- Chartered Engineer / Architectural Technologist
  • Background engineering experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent positions influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel
  • Experience of working within a regulated and quality assured system (preferably nuclear) in roles where professional judgement is the key attribute
