Job Description

Critical Care Research Group Administrator

Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN), Kadoorie Institute of Trauma, Emergency and Critical Care, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford, OX3 9DU

We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated administrator who will work closely with our lead investigators and Operational Lead to support delivery of our growing portfolio of studies. You will join a rapidly expanding multidisciplinary team of clinicians, statisticians, and bioengineers undertaking research reducing the incidence, impact and cost of critical illness. We harness the skills of scientists and multidisciplinary clinicians to produce answers and solutions that are driven into practice through publication and guidance, and through working with key implementation organisations including NHS England and industry.

As the group administrator, you will be the first point of contact for the group. You will be responsible for organising and booking meetings with project teams and external collaborators, as well as coordinating ethics applications and reports. You will also support Prof Watkinson with diary management and travel arrangements. Confidence in dealing with financial data is also required. The successful candidate will be able to work on a range of tasks in parallel as evidenced by their previous administrative and project management experience.

Applicants should have excellent organisational, analytical and IT skills and the ability to manage a broad workload in an efficient manner. You must be able to work systematically and to a high level of accuracy, with exceptional attention to detail.

This post is full time and fixed term until 31st March 2028 in the first instance.

Only applications received before midday 12:00 on Friday 18th September 2026 will be considered.

Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.

Salary (£) : £35,681 - £41,636 per annum. A less experienced candidate may be appointed at Research Grade 5 (£32,108- £37,338 per annum), with a commensurate adjustment in either the essential criteria, responsibilities or duties.
