Criminal Solicitor (Proceeds of Crime)

Job reference: 3632 Location: Leeds PQE required: 4+ Circa salary: £65,000 (DOE).

Responsibilities

An experienced Solicitor is required to join a specialist team focusing on proceeds of crime within a national prosecution environment. The role involves advising, preparing and managing complex cases related to asset restraint, confiscation and enforcement, typically connected to serious and organised criminal activity. Key duties include:

  • Analyse large volumes of evidence and advise investigators, law enforcement agencies and police forces from an early stage.
  • Make informed decisions on charging and case strategy.
  • Manage cases through all prosecution stages: drafting detailed legal documents, advising on disclosure, evidential issues and supporting advocacy in complex proceedings.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including investigative bodies and international partners, often handling cross border matters involving mutual legal assistance and asset recovery.
  • Contribute to case strategy, prepare briefing materials and ensure cases progress efficiently in line with regulatory and procedural requirements.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with:

  • Strong experience in criminal law, particularly in proceeds of crime, asset recovery or complex financial investigations.
  • Excellent analytical ability, drafting skills and capability to manage casework involving large volumes of material.
  • Confidence in advising on evidential and procedural issues, with a sound understanding of criminal procedure and disclosure obligations.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple agencies or handling complex, multi jurisdictional matters is advantageous.
