Criminal Solicitor Southampton

The team at Elite Touch Group are excited to be working with a well-established client who are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Criminal Solicitor to join their well established team based in and around Southampton.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law, ideally be duty accredited and possess excellent communication and advocacy skills.

As a Criminal Solicitor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Advising and representing clients in criminal matters, including providing legal representation at police stations and court proceedings.
  • Managing a diverse caseload, including conducting thorough research and analysis of case facts, legal issues, and relevant legislation.
  • Drafting legal documents, including correspondence, proofs, witness statements, and pleadings.
  • Conducting case preparation, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals within the criminal justice system.
  • Representing clients in Magistrates' and Crown Courts, as well as other tribunals and appellate courts, as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm requirements, including maintaining accurate records and adhering to confidentiality protocols.
  • Joining the local duty Solicitor scheme and/or participating in the Firm's out-of-hours rota and providing on-call support to clients as needed.
  • Continuously updating legal knowledge and skills through professional development and training.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years PQE in criminal law
  • Duty Solicitor accreditation (preferred but not essential)
  • A valid Driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel to client meetings and court appearances will be required.

Full and part time positions available. Salary will be dependent upon qualification and experience.
