Credit Controller - Fast-Paced FMCG Business

Warrington £30,000 Full-Time

The Role:

As Credit Controller, you'll play a key role in managing cash flow, reducing aged debt, and maintaining strong customer relationships in a fast-moving environment. You'll take ownership of the sales ledger while working closely with internal teams to drive results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively contact debtors via phone, email, and written communication to recover outstanding balances
  • Maintain regular communication with Sales Managers to review and reduce aged debt
  • Manage and maintain the sales ledger, ensuring accurate customer and transaction records
  • Negotiate payment terms and work to bring accounts back within agreed terms
  • Investigate and resolve customer queries and disputes efficiently
  • Ensure cash collection and debtor targets are consistently achieved
  • Escalate overdue or high risk accounts to senior stakeholders where necessary
  • Handle high volume, fast moving accounts across multiple payment channels
  • Allocate payments and manage inbox queries within agreed SLAs
  • Open new customer accounts and perform relevant checks
  • Process credit notes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Provide Sales teams with regular debt reporting and insights
  • Support month end, year end processes, and audit requirements
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency within the sales ledger function
About You:
  • Proven experience in Credit Control or a similar finance role
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Proactive, solutions focused approach
  • Comfortable working cross functionally with Sales and Finance teams
  • Good Excel and systems knowledge
