Position Title: Credit Controller
Reports to: Senior Credit Controller
Job Type: Permanent, Full time onsite
Base Location: Manchester

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and collecting outstanding accounts receivable, minimizing credit risk, and ensuring healthy cash flow. You'll play a key role in maintaining strong customer relationships while ensuring timely payments and resolving billing issues.
Key Accountabilities
Credit Management & Customer Onboarding
- Prepare and follow up on new customer credit applications, establish appropriate credit limits, and ensure ongoing adherence.
- Review reports regularly to ensure customer accounts are up to date; block delinquent accounts, maintain the customer database, and unblock eligible sales orders.
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Maintain regular contact with customers to ensure timely payments; pursue outstanding balances via phone, email, and written communication.
- Oversee receipts on customer accounts and process bank deposits accordingly.
- Allocate receipts accurately to customer accounts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve invoice queries or payment disputes; liaise with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Customer Service) to resolve issues efficiently.
Invoicing & Documentation
- Create manual invoices for intercompany billings, other charges, and credit notes for existing customers when required.
- Assist with audit preparation and provide necessary documentation during the annual audit process.
Cash Flow & Financial Reporting
- Contribute to weekly cash flow forecast meetings to support effective liquidity management.
- Prepare financial analyses and reports for management as needed.
Compliance & Policy Adherence
- Comply with company policies and procedures related to health & safety, quality, and environmental management.
What We're Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
- Proven experience in a credit control, accounts receivable, or similar finance role.
- Previous experience in credit and collections.
- Additional exposure to customer service operations.
- Sound understanding of credit risk, cash collection, and financial controls.
Technical Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task with a proactive and flexible attitude.
- Handles sensitive financial data responsibly; committed to integrity and transparency.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, to allow interface with customers and operational people.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must possess a willingness to learn and collaborate with others in the company.
- Must be self-motivated and committed to achieving high standards.
- Comfortable working on own initiative and/or working with others to achieve desired outcomes.
