Job Description

Are you a creative individual who enjoys thinking differently and engaging others through imagination and expression? Do you have a background in fine art, performance or delivering creative workshops, and experience working with children outside of a traditional classroom setting?

Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Newcastle to recruit a Creative Classroom Assistant who can bring a fresh, creative approach to supporting young learners.

Creative Classroom Assistant Role:

This position offers the opportunity to use your creative skills to support pupils in a more engaging and accessible way. You will work alongside teachers to help children connect with learning through creative methods, particularly those who may benefit from a less formal approach.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
  • Delivering creative, hands-on activities to encourage engagement
  • Building positive relationships with children who may need additional support
  • Supporting emotional, social and behavioural development
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt learning approaches

We are keen to hear from candidates with backgrounds such as fine art, illustration, graphic design, theatre, music, dance or creative workshop facilitation. This role is particularly suited to individuals who have worked with children in informal settings such as youth groups, community projects or arts-based programmes.

Ideal candidates may have:
  • A degree or background in a creative discipline
  • Experience working with children in a non-classroom setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach
  • A genuine interest in education and child development
What You'll Get
  • Experience within a supportive primary school environment
  • Ongoing guidance and support from experienced consultants
  • Access to 5 free CPD courses
  • A pathway into education, therapy or youth work
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on pupils' confidence and learning

If you are looking for a role where you can apply your creativity in a meaningful way and support young learners in a different kind of classroom environment, we encourage you to apply through Milk Education.
