To provide high-quality classroom supervision and instruction across a range of subjects during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged and learning objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver lessons and activities prepared by the absent teacher.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Support students with their learning and answer questions where appropriate.
- Take attendance and maintain accurate classroom records.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of different learners.
- Liaise with teaching staff and report back on lesson progress and student behaviour.
- Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school procedures at all times.
- Provide support during break duties or other school activities if required.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Flexible, adaptable, and confident working across different subjects and age groups.
- Organised and reliable with good time management skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Calm and professional under pressure.
- Degree or relevant educational qualification preferred.
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Teaching qualification or classroom experience desirable but not always essential.
Cover Teachers - settings on a short-term, long-term, or daily supply basis. The role may involve covering a variety of subjects and year groups.
