Cover Supervisor

West Somerset College is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive and dynamic team. This role is vital in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences, supporting students from Year 7 to Year 11, and contributing to the wider life of the school.
This is a part time term time only position working 15 hours per week (2 days a week), 39 weeks per year.
Salary: Band 5, points 7-9 (Actual Starting Salary: £8,842.97 per annum)
Anticipated start date: September 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment.
- Deliver pre-set lesson instructions and maintain pupil engagement and behaviour.
- Respond to general student queries and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Support with exam invigilation and accompany students on educational visits.
- Provide administrative and pastoral support when not supervising lessons.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Assist with classroom displays and curriculum-related admin tasks.
What We re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Confident in managing classroom behaviour and supporting a range of learning needs.
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Flexible, proactive, and a team player.
- Has GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Has strong ICT and numeracy skills.
- Able to build positive relationships with students and staff.
