Full time: 37 hours per week, permanent
Location: Stephen Burke Construction Academy, Swadlincote
Salary: Up to £34,948 pro rata
PLUS £4,500 'Golden Hello' staged over 3 years
PLUS Bursary up to £1,800 per year (qualification level dependent)
PLUS, up to £5,000 professional development bursary for formal education and training qualifications including:
Level 3-5 Education & Teaching
Level 3 TAQA Assessor Qualification
Level 4 TAQA Internal Quality Assurance Qualification

Who are we looking for?

Burton and South Derbyshire College is seeking an inspiring and experienced Course Leader for Construction Professional Studies to lead and develop our Construction Higher Technical Qualifications programmes at L4. This is a unique opportunity to join the Stephen Burke Construction Academy, which has cutting-edge facilities and substantial investment in new technologies, set within a supportive environment that values collaboration and partnerships. These include strong links with industry leaders, such as a long-standing partnership with St. Modwen, including bursary support and a Golden Hello.

For industry professionals looking to move into teaching, there is also an opportunity to apply for a government grant scheme with payments of up to £6,000 per annum while studying teacher training programmes.

About the role:

As Course Leader, you will oversee the delivery, coordination, and development of the HNC Construction Management course, ensuring students acquire the technical and professional skills needed in the modern construction industry.

You will teach modules and provide academic leadership. A friendly, effective communicator, you'll be committed to delivering an excellent student experience and drawing on your industry experience to enrich your teaching.

The ideal candidate will have broad Construction knowledge and confidence teaching undergraduate students at Level 4. This is a great opportunity to develop your academic career in a supportive environment, utilizing your vocational skills to enhance student learning.

The successful candidate will have industry experience, a proven record of inspirational teaching at HE level, and a commitment to teaching and learning excellence.

You will be based at The Stephen Burke Construction Academy, responsible for programmes including Higher Nationals (HTQs) and professional qualifications. Main teaching areas may include:

HNC Architectural Technology (Higher Technical Qualification) Level 4

HNC Civil Engineering Level 4

HNC Construction Management (Higher Technical Qualification) Level 4
