Cost Accountant - Dumfries - Salary £45,000 - £60,000 per annum - fully on-site

Our client, a globally renowned leader in the manufacturing sector, is seeking to appoint a Cost Accountant to join their dynamic finance team at their Dumfries site. This pivotal role will report directly to the UK Financial Controller and will play a crucial part in driving financial insight and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, developing, and applying detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making across the business. Typical duties include:

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts to gross profit for submission to Europe/Corporate to strict deadlines
  • Supports Senior Finance Business Partner with forecast/budget process for the Dumfries plant
  • Finance Business Partnering with operational and functional teams, including proactively providing information and insight that helps the business make better decisions on how to deliver against their budgets/forecasts
  • Deputising for the Senior Finance Business Partner when they are unavailable
  • Production of weekly/monthly management information re. operations performance, variance analysis and commentaries - including material usage and purchase price variances
  • Stock reporting, reconciliation and control, including obsolescence/excess stock provision calculations
  • Main point of contact in plant regarding standard costing information
  • Taking ownership of the annual standard costing update process.
  • Supporting the business teams with the preparation of CAPEX proposals (IPPs)
  • Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth, e.g. product costing analysis
  • Completion of Balance Sheet Reconciliations, monitoring and addressing reconciling items, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Ensuring sufficient evidence is available for audit purposes
  • Identify financial control issues arising out of new initiatives in the business, including documenting new processes.
  • Maintain, review and ensure compliance with relevant Sarbanes Oxley risk control matrices
  • Support wider UK Finance team with annual statutory audit
  • Proactively seeking out opportunities to continuously improve finance and related business processes

    Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively throughout the organisationStrong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work to tight deadlinesAdvanced Excel & IT skills, including ERP, SAP experience advantageousFully Qualified Accountant CIMA/ACCAMin of 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment
