Our West Hubs Team is looking to employ a Corporate Trainee Hub Assistant based at Whitchurch & Rhiwbina Hubs.

Our team provide a face-to-face service to the citizens of Cardiff. We provide help and support with Universal Credit, Welfare Benefits, Council Tax, Housing, bus passes for the elderly and disabled, free school meals, education, bulky waste orders as well as a variety of other council services including library provision and community hub events.

About the job

In this Corporate Trainee role, you will learn to:

Provide a high standard bilingual service by using Welsh language skills (to the best of your ability) and to agree to formally improve your Welsh using the Council Training academy. The successful candidate will also receive the support of a Welsh language mentor, who will support them informally to improve their Welsh Language skills. The trainee will learn how a busy customer service environment operates, in person, on the phone and through emails/webchat.

To support your development, you will receive on the job training and supervision to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer focussed manner. You will also be supported by your manager and a named mentor to who will encourage you to develop a range of transferrable skills to support your career progression.

We are moving to online and homeworking working and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity.

Please note that community hubs are open from 9am - 6pm plus one late night a week closing at 7pm and Saturday from 9am - 5.00 pm. You will be required to work on a rota basis and this will include some evening and weekend work. You will primarily be based at Whitchurch Hub although may be required to work from other hub locations when needed e.g. Rhiwbina, Llandaff North & Fairwater hubs, on a rota basis and whose opening hours may vary.

Our customers depend on us to keep delivering services even in the most challenging of times. We are looking for individuals who are interested in our work, keen to learn in the role and in helping us making a difference to our customers by delivering exceptional public services in Cardiff.

Our Corporate Trainees gain valuable experience working for the largest Council in Wales. Whilst we cannot guarantee that the appointed candidate will go on to secure a further role at the end of this initial contract, they will be supported and encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities available within our organisation, in order to progress their career.

The successful candidate will be required to learn Welsh on the job through our Council's Academy as part of their training. While it is not essential to speak Welsh to apply, you must have a willingness to learn, and is therefore best suited forWelsh learners and Welsh speakers who are looking to build confidence.
