This role has a mixed compliance and advisory focus and will suit a candidate who is comfortable managing a significant corporate tax compliance portfolio, while also having built strong, hands on experience delivering complex corporate tax advisory work. The appointed individual will be expected to lead, manage and contribute meaningfully to M&A transactions, corporate restructurings and shareholder driven transactions, alongside ongoing client compliance responsibilities. The portfolio includes clients operating in a wide range of sectors including real estate, hospitality, healthcare and retail. The group advises domestic and international taxpayers on complex corporate tax advisory matters including M&A transactions, pre and post transaction restructuring, share for share and share for undertaking exchanges, refinancings, due diligence assignments, EIIS structures and tax efficient exits, and aids with Revenue interventions. Key Responsibilities- Assisting the senior management team with the successful, timely and commercial delivery of tax advice to Irish and international clients
- Leading the delivery of complex corporate tax advisory projects, including M&A transactions, business and group restructurings, shareholder reorganisations and investment structuring
- Responsibility for the management, delivery and review of a significant corporate tax compliance portfolio, including planning, delegation, technical review and client liaison, with responsibility for income tax compliance engagements where appropriate or desired
- Responsibility for the project management of clients/assignments to ensure service delivery in line with client expectations
- Mentoring / training more junior members of the tax team
- Carrying out technical research necessary to support client engagement and for internal/external thought leadership commentary
- Identify new products or services relevant to existing and potential clients
- Assistance with the management of billing and cash collection
- A relevant tax, legal or accountancy qualification - ITI/CTA qualified.
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent technical knowledge of Irish corporate tax, with the ability to apply legislation and case law in both compliance and advisory contexts.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in a professional tax environment.
- Proven experience leading and managing corporate tax compliance engagements, including responsibility for planning, review, timely delivery and client relationship management across a portfolio of clients.
- Significant and demonstrable experience in delivering corporate tax advisory assignments is essential, including M&A transactions, corporate and group restructurings, share for undertaking and share for share transactions, investment structuring and exit planning.
- Experience advising owner managed and privately held Irish businesses, particularly in the real estate, hospitality and investment driven sectors, an advantage.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Experienced in providing strong client service delivery across a portfolio of businesses/clients.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to build good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
This role is best suited to candidates who have developed strong advisory capability alongside significant compliance leadership, rather than a predominantly compliance only background.
