Job Description
The Role
As our Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, home-cooked meals that cater to a range of dietary needs and preferences. You'll be a vital part of our care team, ensuring residents receive meals that are not only tasty and appealing but also support their health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to a set menu or residents' needs
Work with the team to create varied, nutritious menus with seasonal ingredients
Ensure all meals are presented to a high standard
Maintain food hygiene and safety standards in accordance with current regulations (e.g. HACCP, Food Safety Act)
Manage stock levels and place orders as needed
Cater for special dietary requirements (e.g. modified meals, diabetic-friendly, allergen-aware etc.)
Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards
Work collaboratively with care and support staff to ensure residents' preferences are met
What We're Looking For
Previous experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in a care or healthcare setting
Understanding of dietary needs of older people and/or those with medical conditions
Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
Relevant Food Hygiene qualifications (Level 2 or higher preferred)
Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Reliable and flexible, including availability for weekend or holiday shifts
The candidate needs to be trained to IDDSI. We can offer support with this.
