Job Description

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, Hybrid (working up to 2 days from home)

From our Engineering and Project Management offices in Ely, Cambridge, and Fabrication and Assembly facility in Swansea, South Wales, we undertake the complete design and supply of skid mounted or packaged equipment. Since 1989, OGS has supplied to satisfied clients throughout the world. We are accredited by major international operators in the oil, gas and power industries, gas turbine producers and EPC companies. Our scope of supply includes the responsibility for all stages of project execution including initial design, detailed design of process, mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation, manufacturing, testing, packing and shipping. We also provide a site erection and commissioning service if required.

Oil & Gas Systems Limited (OGS) and its sister systems company, Oil & Gas Measurement Limited (OGM), are both based at our premises in Ely, just north of Cambridge.

We are seeking a Contracts Manager to lead & manage the contract & commercial aspects of OGS Engineering Projects with a view to increasing Company profitability and contribution.

  • Increase Project revenue by pursuing variations with Customers, challenging Customer changes, and reducing scope creep.
  • Supervise Project Manhours & Bought Out Costs, ensure they are kept up-to-date, and provide realistic forecasts.
  • Challenge potential budget overspends / overruns and advise best strategy for purchasing & engineering decisions.
  • Provide feedback to the Proposals & Sales Teams for future project budgets.
  • Supervise Project Schedules, ensure they are kept up-to-date, and that forecasting is realistic.
  • Challenge potential schedule impacts / delays and advise best strategy for purchasing & engineering decisions.
  • Provide feedback to the Proposals & Sales Teams for future project scheduling.
  • Oversee Project cashflow.
  • Supervise the invoicing of Customers and payments made to Suppliers.
  • Provide Project cashflow information to the Group Financial Controller.
  • Support the resolution of commercial / contractual disputes with Customers & Suppliers.
  • Provide advice to the Sales & Purchasing Teams regarding contract wording and terms & conditions.
  • Implement & manage a customer variation process.
  • Analyse for commercially / contractually weak areas of the business and advise solutions to reduce risk.
  • Review processes, interfaces, technology & software for efficiency / effectiveness.
  • Liaise with the Projects, Purchasing, Finance, Proposals & Sales Teams.
  • Provide commercial / contract reporting to the Management Team / Directors.

Essential skills, qualifications and experience required for candidates wishing to apply are:

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in contract management, engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven experience of strategic contract management, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience in developing contract management strategies, frameworks, and guidelines.
  • Proven experience in monitoring and reporting on contract compliance & performance.
  • Demonstrable experience of addressing contract non-compliance / performance.

Skills:

  • Ability to build and maintain good relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and suppliers.
  • Possess commercial acumen and tenacity to ensure value for money is obtained through the life of the contract.
  • Excellent negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Proven management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
