Contentious Probate Solicitor Central London Top 200 Firm Legal 500 Firm Our client is a well-regarded boutique practice known for its strong reputation in complex contentious probate matters. Their specialist team handles the full spectrum of medium to high-value disputes involving wills, estates, trusts, and inheritance issues, often featuring intricate legal questions and significant assets. The firm represents a broad and diverse client base - from high-net-worth individuals (including matters recognised in leading legal directories) to some of the most vulnerable members of society. They are now seeking an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor to join this highly respected team, recognised by Chambers and Legal 500 for its expertise. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Solicitor who can handle sensitive matters with professionalism, clarity, and empathy.Key Responsibilities
- Acting for both claimants and defendants across a wide range of contentious probate disputes.
- Advising clients on case merits, settlement strategy, and litigation risk.
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements, and related correspondence.
- Managing cases through all stages, including pre-action, mediation, negotiation, and court proceedings.
- Attending hearings, mediations, and client meetings.
- Ensuring accurate file management and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborating across private client and litigation teams.
- Staying up to date with legal developments and contributing to internal knowledge sharing.
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with approx. 2-5 years' PQE in contentious probate or related litigation.
- Strong understanding of wills, probate, trusts, and inheritance disputes.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage an independent caseload effectively.
- High-level communication and client care skills, especially in sensitive family situations.
- Organised, proactive, and able to work under pressure.
- Strong professional ethics and confidentiality.
- ACTAPS membership or willingness to work towards accreditation.
- Experience with mediation and other forms of ADR.
- Business development capability.
- Exposure to high-value or complex estate matters.
