Content Editor

Overview

The Content Editor will manage content for the HFEA website and Clinic Portal, support the Digital Communications and Social Media Officer to source and develop engaging content for the HFEA social media channels, and contribute to communications on high profile fertility topics.

Responsibilities

• Publish HFEA reports and press releases to the website in a timely manner and to a high standard.
• Keep the website content up to date to meet audience information needs and rank highly in search engines.
• Manage the website content review planner and register of external links; identify gaps and redundancies (e.g., missing pages, broken links).
• Collaborate with the communications team on the development of new content pages and present information suitable for different audiences.
• Ensure the HFEA visual identity is reflected on the website and Clinic Portal and that images are used appropriately.
• Work with cross organisational teams to ensure content is audience driven, accurate and engaging.
• Support the Digital Communications and Social Media Officer to source and develop engaging content for social media channels.
• Liaise with the Communications Manager, Senior External Communications Manager and Social Media Officer to coordinate outputs across external channels.
• Lead the development and delivery of the weekly press cuttings service for HFEA staff, including alerts to media mentions and monthly highlights.
• Contribute to internal communications initiatives.
• Support the Senior External Communications Manager to source and write articles for external publications and the HFEA website.

Experience

• High level experience using web content management systems, preferably Umbraco.
• Ability to use HTML and CSS.
• Knowledge and experience of website accessibility including Government Digital Service standards.
• Excellent experience managing and generating web content and an understanding of search engine optimisation.
• Knowledge of website testing and documentation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and other content creation programs.
• Experience using screen readers to test content, tags and functionality.
• Experience monitoring and analysing website traffic and metrics using Google Analytics.
• Familiarity with media monitoring platforms such as Vuelio.
• The ability to work with minimum supervision and act on own initiative.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to communicate with people at all levels inside and outside the organisation.
• Ability to organise daily work demands and prioritise competing priorities.
• The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification or training relevant to the post or equivalent experience in website content management or communications design techniques.
• Degree-level qualification or relevant experience in a communications/IT-related subject.
