Job Description

Outside IR35 - Welsh Speaking Content Designer - 3 months+ Travel to Newcastle is required twice per fortnight

Please note: Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Welsh.

Content designers in government play a critical role in creating user-centred information for important government services. Your expertise will ensure that the information provided to users is clear, concise, and relevant, making government services accessible and simple to use.

Activities:

. Collaborate with other user-centred design disciplines to create effective government services.
. Support user research and usability testing activities.
. Understand users' needs and behaviours, analysing evidence and translating user stories into service concepts that meet their needs.
. Develop and implement content that meets user needs and business objectives.
. Create, edit, and manage high-quality content for digital services, ensuring consistency and adherence to the GOV.UK style guide, design principles and WCAG 2.2 AA.
. Work with stakeholders to advocate for user needs while ensuring accuracy and clarity.
. Conduct content audits and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement.
. Understand how to test content with users to gather feedback and iterate based on findings.
. Provide guidance on best practice for other team members.

Skills:

. Collaborative and comfortable working in the open and receiving critique.
. Proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
. Strong influencing and communication skills with the ability to advocate successfully for users.
. Proven experience in content design.
. Familiar with the GOV.UK style guide and content design principles.
. Experience working with government publishing tools or content management systems (CMS).
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (English and Welsh)
. Ability to analyse and understand complex information, presenting it in a clear and simplified manner.
. Experience analysing user research to inform content design decisions
