Consultant Respiratory Medicine

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a doctor to be part of a fantastic respiratory team at a hospital in the South East of England. This is a substantive post; however, candidates wishing to apply for a fixed-term role will also be considered.

This is one of the most improved trusts in England in 2018 for patient flow, with a current 4-hour wait performance. The hospital's readmission rates are below its peer group, and its mortality rates are well below both expected figures and the wider peer group.

We are looking for a forward-thinking, enthusiastic candidate to join the team and work to deliver consultant-led, efficient, safe and patient-centred best practice in Respiratory and General Medicine.

About the team

The department consists of 9 consultants, 4 lung cancer nurses, 2 TB nurses, 2 respiratory physiologists and the Regional East Sussex Pulmonary Service (RESPS), a multi-disciplinary team of respiratory nurses, physiotherapists and support workers providing integrated respiratory services.

Qualifications / interests

We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in difficult asthma, interstitial lung disease or bronchiectasis. Other interests that complement those of the existing consultants would also be welcome.

Location

The hospital is based in a beautiful location with areas of outstanding natural beauty including the medieval heathland and forests of the High Weald. It is often referred to as The Sunshine Coast, regularly topping the UK list for locations with the most sunshine hours.
