A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The Consultant Psychiatrist will be working within the North Manchester Late Life Service, part of the Community Care Group The post holder, with the CMHT, will accept referrals from the defined General Practitioners within the locality using the agreed referral criteria, provided that the patient is resident in Manchester.

Referrals will also be accepted from General Practitioners outside Manchester CCG area where their patient is a Manchester resident.

It is expected that a strong model of team working will be maintained.

The post holder will also be expected to provide liaison support to General Practitioners. The post holder will provide community assessments and if necessary can book clinic appointments in the Park House outpatient clinic.

These will include the assessment of new and review patients and support for CPA with CMHT members.

The team consists of: 2 Consultant psychiatrists

  • Dr Arun Kaimal and this post 1 or 2 ST 4-6 Trainees, dependent on allocation from rotation and trainer status 1 GPST 1 CT 1-3 Trainee 3 Band 7 Nurses 8 Band 6 CPN's 4 Band 6 Social Workers 2 Band 6 O.T.'s 1 Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist 1 Band 6 Admiral Nurse 1 Clinical Psychologist Band 8 3 Support Workers Band 3 2 Dementia Support Advisors Band 4

Clinical role: Undertake assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.

Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations. Assessment and management of risk including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.

Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners. Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists.

Leadership role: Lead clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high quality care. Develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards. Engage with service transformation programmes including attendance at Consultant meetings for the service and directorate.

Educational role: Provide clinical supervision for trainees in gaining core psychiatric experience where applicable. Provide clinical supervision for psychiatric trainees in achieving competencies in core general psychiatry.
