Job Description
Consultant Psychiatrist - Early Intervention in Psychosis Service

Fancy a better work life balance on the vibrant Sussex coast. This consultant post based in Horsham, West Sussex and has the advantages of easy access to the Sussex and Hampshire coast and The Downs. It is still accessible to London.

This is an exciting opportunity due to a voluntary resignation of a full-time consultant post in the Horsham Early Intervention in Psychosis Team. This post arises from the relocation of our current consultant. The Early intervention team offers its service for all 14-65yr olds. It provides assertive outreach mental health care to people with a first episode psychosis. The post holder will provide Consultant input to the Horsham EIPS team which covers Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex and the areas around it. The team base is co-located with other multiple community mental health services in Horsham with limited on-site parking.

Main duties of the job

In Sussex the EIPS service is made up of six teams all of which are managed through the Specialist services division. An EIPS Locality Leadership Team meets monthly to oversee the operation of the teams, and this group will be responsible along with team leaders in each team for ensuring there is a consistent approach taken wherever possible across teams. Local deviations from the EIPS service's central operational policy will be detailed, where necessary, in the main text or otherwise documented in the appendices.

The service provides specialist mental health assessments for a suspected first episode of psychosis. Assessment and formulation will lead to appropriate treatment and care plans, as well as appropriate risk management. An At Risk Mental State (ARMS) pathway is incorporated into this service.

The Consultant's role will be to work closely with the wider team to assess new patients referred to the service and provide a diagnosis and treatment plan, to monitor that treatment plan and ensure optimal treatment and minimal side effects. To work with the MDT to provide a holistic care plan. To liaise with inpatient and CRHT teams when clients are under these services and respond to wider trust needs as identified
