Consultant in Stroke Medicine

We've been assigned by one of the best performing NHS Trusts in the UK to help them recruit a Consultant in Stroke Medicine on either a Substantive or a 12-month NHS Fixed Term basis.

The successful appointee will join a team of 10 NHS and academic consultants providing Stroke services, including a dedicated multi-disciplinary team delivering outstanding Stroke care and internationally recognized research within the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. The stroke service comprises:

• A 16-bed hyperacute stroke unit
• A 28-bed acute rehabilitation stroke unit
• An 18-bed long-term rehabilitation stroke unit
• A daily Fast Track TIA clinic operating 7 days a week
• Stroke outpatient clinics
• 24/7 thrombolysis service supported by telemedicine
• A regional Mechanical Thrombectomy service

The appointee will contribute to the development of the stroke pathway, covering hyperacute, acute, intensive rehab, and continuing stroke rehabilitation, and will undertake duties including:

• Reciprocal cover during leave
• Patient care responsibilities
• Providing comprehensive elective and emergency stroke services alongside Consultant colleagues
• Engagement in clinical governance and audit activities
• Participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
• Cover for the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit, Weekend and weekday on-call, Acute Stroke Ward, TIA clinic, and Outpatients
