The primary purpose of this post is to support the delivery of comprehensive care for children with endocrine, diabetes, and metabolic bone disorders, including the provision of highly specialised NHS funded services for Osteogenesis Imperfecta and Hypophosphatasia across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Alongside core general endocrinology, diabetes clinics, and the Metabolic Bone Service, the successful candidate will work collaboratively within a well established multidisciplinary team. They will actively contribute to the Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Services and engage across the department's endocrinology sub specialties. The department is committed to innovation and continual improvement to ensure our services remain aligned with the highest standards in Europe.
In addition to delivering inpatient and outpatient care on site, the department also provides regional and supra regional specialist advice.
Main duties of the jobWe are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology to join our dynamic and expanding team. This substantive 10 PA post offers a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in delivering high quality secondary and tertiary endocrine services across inpatient, outpatient, and outreach settings. The appointee should have tertiary level training in paediatric endocrinology and broad experience in metabolic bone disease, as well as extensive expertise in general endocrine conditions.
Job responsibilitiesThe successful candidate will deliver care through a combination of face to face and virtual clinics, ensuring services remain accessible, responsive, and patient centred. A key component of the role is participation in our nationally commissioned specialist services, including the severe Osteogenesis Imperfecta and Hypophosphatasia clinics, working alongside two consultant colleagues to provide expert management for children with complex metabolic bone disorders.
As an integral part of the multidisciplinary diabetes team, you will contribute to MDT meetings and collaborative management of children and young people with metabolic bone disease, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The role also includes delivering outreach clinics for both metabolic bone disease within the supra regional service and for peripheral endocrine outreach, extending specialist expertise across the network.
Working closely with colleagues, you will help foster innovation and maintain excellence across all aspects of endocrine and diabetes care.

Person Specification Qualifications- Medical Degree from a recognised University
- CCT in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes / or CCT in Paediatrics and training in Endocrinology and Diabetes to tertiary level as defined by BSPED standards or shall have equivalent experience and competencies
- MRCPCH
- Child protection Level 3 training
- Basic Life Support
- Higher Degree (MD/DPhil/Masters MPhil/PhD etc)
- Experience in Metabolic bone and OI service
- APLS
- Full GMC registration
- Entry on the GMC specialist Register via CCT in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
- Significant experience to support undergraduate learning
- Willing collaborator
- Research and Audit experience
- Good track record in Clinical / Translational research
- First / last author scientific publications
- GCP Training
- Attendance at Training the Trainers teaching course
