Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust (SaTH) is seeking to appoint two Consultants in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and General Internal Medicine. These roles aim to develop new services and enhance existing high-standard services delivered by a team of full-time and part-time consultants. The positions are subject to a collective job-planning exercise and attract 10 Programmed Activities per week. One post is primarily based at the Princess Royal Hospital, and the other at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. All newly appointed consultants must be willing to work at either site as per contractual requirements.

• Develop new and complement existing services in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and General Medical Services.
• Undertake on-call medical duties in collaboration with Consultant Physician colleagues.
• Deliver high-quality Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Medical Services.
• Provide inpatient diabetes care and support ambulatory care.
• Conduct outpatient clinics for diabetes and endocrine conditions.
• Enhance clinical skills, especially in assessing and managing acutely ill patients.
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent team-working skills and professionalism.
• Achieve clinical and quality targets set both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.
• Follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the primary provider of acute hospital services for approximately half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and mid Wales.

Together, they account for 99% of our activity. Both hospitals offer a broad range of acute services, including emergency care, outpatient services, diagnostics, inpatient medical care, and critical care.
