  • Extensive experience of civil engineering construction.
  • Strong programme management, cost control and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent risk, quality and safety management skills, with deep understanding of CDM, safe systems of work and construction phase planning.
  • Proven track record of self-delivering works and management of subcontractors and supply chains to deliver work safely, on time and budget.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, able to present to senior management, external authorities and clients.
  • SMSTS or equivalent site managementsafety training.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Degree or equivalent in a related subject.
  • First Aid at Work.

STRABAG - More than just a construction company

As the Construction Manager, you will lead the planning, delivery and completion of packages of multiple compounds and shafts ahead of tunnel construction, as well as permanent structures. You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, ensure safe, efficient delivery on time and in budget, interfacing with stakeholders, including designers, statutory authorities, community and other delivery teams.

KeyResponsibilities
  • Ensuring construction to the highest quality standards, to ensure that the completed tunnel is suitable for transmission of drinking water.
  • Take responsibility for profitability of the scope through strong focus and leadership on cost and schedule control.
  • Oversee and enforce safe systems of work, site inductions, CDM compliance and ensure the works meet the principal contractor's obligations under the contract and statutory obligations.
  • Review design information and work collaboratively with the design team to ensure designs are properly coordinated, identifying opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, safety, quality or programme benefits.
  • In conjunction with the consents team, ensure that all the planning obligations have been discharged prior to commencement and are continually met throughout the delivery.
  • Monitor subcontractor and supply chain performance, enforce quality control, manage inspection and acceptance of works, handover to operations/delivery teams.
  • Development of the construction methodology, management and monitoring plan. Meeting all regulations, standards, including H&S and environmental requirements.
  • Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with the programme and budget, identifying strategies to improve schedule and cost performance.
  • Assessment of construction risks, including development and implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Guiding and developing the team, as well as encouraging common and positive culture and behaviours, aligned with the business and project purpose and values.
