About the job
We are seeking a Construction Lawyer to support our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) requirements in the UK. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with key internal stakeholders and construction professionals on leading infrastructure and major projects within our in-house legal team, providing hands-on legal support to ensure fast, efficient, and scalable legal and contracting processes. We are seeking an individual capable of working independently, proactively managing legal issues, and offering pragmatic legal advice.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary legal contact for construction-related and procurement enquiries across our EPC operations for our various UK businesses and their respective directors/boards.
Lead counsel for a major UK Carbon Capture & CO2 Reduction project.
Draft, review, and negotiate engineering and construction contracts including NEC, FIDIC, EPC, ICC, IChemE, JCT.
Advising on legal contracts and issues relating to major UK infrastructure projects customer supply and plant /capex procurement.
Provide legal counsel on construction-related disputes and claims, including contract interpretation and management of resolution strategies. Key business partner / management of HM UK's contentious / litigation matters management of business line cases with support of specialist external law firms and experts once litigated
Advising on procurement strategies, construction and project risk and contract structuring.
Managing the suite of procurement templates for capex works.
Oversee and coordinate with external legal counsel on EPC matters.
Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate business teams on legal risks and construction contract best practices.
Maintain regular communication with business clients and legal stakeholders to ensure alignment and manage legal risks proactively.
Full ownership of assigned projects, ensure timely delivery of legal solutions, and escalate issues where necessary.
Exposure to high-value and complex mandates and develop experience in competition law and corporate matters.

Qualifications
Required:
You will be a UK qualified lawyer with a minimum 2-3 years of experience advising on construction-related legal matters (especially non-contentious) at a leading law firm / construction practice or an in-house legal department within a tier one contractor or similar construction or real estate sectors.
University degree or similar, with UK law qualification to LLB or CPE / with LPC and also hold practicing certificate.
Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex construction and engineering contracts, with a strong grasp of contracts and procurement.
Experience advising on large scale developments or infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
Experience in construction-related disputes such as extension of time and cost claims.
Qualified to practice law in England.
Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
In-house legal experience specifically within a construction-focused legal role.
Familiarity with legal considerations surrounding construction projects and related infrastructure.
Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
