Compliance Officer

Salary: £29,093 - £32,654 (Grade 5)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent

Location: East Midlands (Loughborough-based with regional travel)

This position requires shift working, which will consist of morning, afternoon, and evening shifts. A Full UK Driving Licence is required.

Are you ready to step into a role where no two days are the same?

We're looking for three enthusiastic and committed Compliance Officers to join our Taxi Compliance Team at the City of Wolverhampton Council, working across the East Midlands, covering areas including Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, and beyond.

Based in Loughborough, this is a regional role with a mixture of on-site, office, and home working, offering variety, autonomy, and a chance to really make a difference.

What you'll be doing:

  • Carrying out compliance operations and checks on licensed vehicles and drivers
  • Responding to complaints and concerns from the public and other stakeholders
  • Assisting in investigations, gathering evidence, and supporting enforcement action
  • Helping to ensure that all licence conditions are being met by drivers and operators
  • Working evening shifts (Friday and Saturday evenings every other week) as part of a rolling rota - this comes with a 10% shift allowance

What we're looking for:

  • Someone with a full UK driving licence, willing to travel within the East Midlands region
  • Someone flexible, proactive, and confident when working with the public
  • Great attention to detail and a solid understanding of regulations or a willingness to learn
  • Strong IT and reporting skills
  • A team player who can also manage their own workload independently
  • A professional approach and a genuine interest in keeping communities safe

For full details of the responsibilities and requirements of this role, please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification.

You'll be joining a supportive and experienced team that works closely across the region. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their career in compliance and enforcement within a high-profile, public-facing service.

Interviews are provisionally scheduled for 15th and 16th July 2025.

Should you wish to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Mark Keenan, Section Leader for East Midlands:

Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field, or flexible work style. Some roles are agile, enabling employees to maximize performance and productivity while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle are based at a fixed council location. Roles with a field workstyle usually involve working out in the community with minimal 'touch down' space at the council. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location, allowing work from home or other locations as required to meet service needs.

Please refer to the Job Description for further information on the workstyle assigned to the role you are applying for.
