Complex Emotional Needs Advanced Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen as part of our Complex Emotional Needs Pathway development. We are seeking two Complex Emotional Needs Advanced Practitioners to work across our Community Mental Health Teams in Bradford AireWharfe and Craven alongside other professionals in the MDT. The posts are specialist roles requiring an advanced level of knowledge about the development and treatment of complex emotional needs. Working in a trauma-informed recovery focused way, the successful candidates will work in collaboration across services to ensure an individualised, multi-agency approach to care and support.

Main duties of the job

To bring a person-centred, trauma-informed and individualised approach to ensure appropriate treatment and clinical management of people with complex emotional needs by supporting the development of multi-agency care plans.

To ensure that barriers to effective care are challenged, overcome and analysed, options compared and reviewed to agree the best way forward.

To facilitate the development of a coherent care plan for individuals who present across a number of different services (Community Mental Health Teams, crisis services, Police, Ambulance and voluntary services etc.) that are enacted as agreed.

To provide clinical consultation and advice to healthcare professionals across all localities.

To support adherence to relevant NICE guidance.

To maintain clinical skills by delivering direct clinical care in line with evidence-based practice such as DBT or SCM.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • BSc or MSc in a core profession (Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Social work). If BSc - working towards or prepared to undertake a Master's degree programme
  • Registration with Health & Care Professions Council, NMC, Social Work England
  • Accreditation in a clinical intervention relevant to people with CEN such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy or Structured Clinical Management
  • Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership training.
Experience
  • Significant experience in relevant area of mental health practice (CEN & trauma) - at least 3 years post qualification.
  • Application of evidence-based specialist interventions relevant to the clinical service - CEN and trauma.
  • Experience of Service Development.
  • Experience of working in a CMHT and/or crisis/inpatient services.
Knowledge
  • Able to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress both directly with patients and indirectly via supervision or case reviews with other staff.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Master's level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis.
