Job Description

Jones Engineering is seeking an experienced and motivated CompEx Trainer to deliver high-quality hazardous area training to electrical and instrumentation personnel. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing hazardous area competence, delivering specialist training and promoting the highest standards of technical compliance and best practice across ATEX/IECEx regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver CompEx training programmes (Ex01-Ex04 and other modules where qualified).
• Deliver both classroom-based and practical workshop training.
• Assess candidate competence in accordance with CompEx requirements.
• Coach technicians on hazardous area installation, inspection and maintenance.
• Develop training material, practical exercises and technical assessments.
• Support ATEX compliance initiatives across projects.
• Ensure all training complies with IEC 60079 standards and CompEx requirements.
• Maintain training equipment, documentation and assessment records.
• Promote a strong safety culture and continuous professional development.

Essential Requirements

• Compex or IECEx course completed.
• Extensive experience working in hazardous areas.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 60079 standards.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Not required, but desirable

• Teaching or training qualification.
• Current CompEx Instructor approval or the ability to become an approved CompEx Instructor.
• Experience across hazardous area industries, with practical exposure to ATEX/IECEx installations, inspection, maintenance and compliance in industrial and process environments.
• Inspection experience to IEC 60079-17.
• Experience developing technical training programmes.
