Duties in the Community Substance Misuse Nurse role include:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and create recovery-focused care plans
  • Deliver clinical interventions with a specialist focus on substance misuse services
  • Administer and monitor prescribed medications, providing guidance on safe use
  • Maintain therapeutic relationships and promote independence and recovery
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Ensure care delivery meets professional and organizational standards
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential criteria to apply
  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN
  • Band 6 or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong clinical knowledge of substance misuse, mental health, and recovery models
Desirable Criteria
  • Post-registration specialist qualification in mental health or substance misuse
  • Knowledge of OST/methadone pathways and NICE guidance
  • Experience in commissioning, service development, or health/social care partnerships
