Job Description

The Law Society of Northern Ireland (LSNI) is the professional body for the Solicitor profession. The Society is responsible for the admission of newly qualified Solicitors to the profession and for their continuing professional development throughout their careers. As a self-regulating profession, the Society oversees the professional conduct of its members.

The Law Society is embarking on an ambitious programme to modernise and elevate how we communicate with our members, the public, the justice sector, and the wider civic landscape. We realise the need for a stronger strategic voice, clearer member focused communication, refreshed brand identity, proactive media engagement, and robust crisis readiness.

We are now building a communications function equipped to meet those aspirations - we are seeking an experienced and strategic Communications Lead to shape and deliver LSNI's organisation-wide communications strategy. This is a leadership role responsible for setting the vision, standards, and culture of LSNI's communications. You will lead the strategic direction of all member and public facing communications, shaping LSNI's identity as both regulator and representative body, ensuring a modern, accessible, and influential communications approach.

Working closely with the CEO, President, Senior Leadership Team, and Council, you will lead a team of two Communications professionals and establish the strategic frameworks, governance and capability needed for a high performing communications function. You will establish clear governance frameworks, lead crisis, and reputational communications, and manage a proactive press office function to increase visibility and influence. The role also requires a strong focus on analytics and insight, ensuring communications activity is targeted, measurable, and impactful.

To apply you will be required to demonstrate senior level experience in communications leadership within a complex organisation (public sector, regulatory body, professional body, or comparable environment). You will have proven experience delivering communications strategies, media relations, digital communications, brand development, and crisis communications alongside experience managing and developing a small team. Experience using analytics to guide decision making and improve communications performance is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to position LSNI as a modern, inclusive, and influential voice for the profession and make a meaningful impact on how the Solicitors' profession is represented, supported, and understood.
