Commissioning Officer (JCT)

Fixed Term Contract/ or 2 year secondment

Grade 4 - £34,434 - £41,771

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

We are seeking a proactive and adaptable Commissioning Officer to join our newly established team within the Adult Social Care and Health Directorate. This role is a two-year fixed term contract to backfill a vacancy created by internal progression.

As a Commissioning Officer, you will play a key role in supporting complex placements. You'll work closely with social workers and specialist providers to secure tailored care packages for individuals with diverse and often complex needs-including mental health, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with social workers and providers to source bespoke care solutions
  • Manage and negotiate care packages, ensuring value for money and quality outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data and documentation.
  • Support transitions and attend multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Contribute to strategic commissioning intentions and service development.
  • Undertake quality assurance and contract compliance tasks.

While direct experience in commissioning is desirable, we welcome candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to learn. You will be supported and coached by experienced colleagues to succeed in the role.

  • Ability to analyse complex data and produce clear reports.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of commissioning frameworks.
  • Proficiency in using IT tools for data analysis and reporting.
