Job Description

Working as a Commis Chef in Wallingford, you will join an established restaurant kitchen team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role involves supporting senior chefs with food preparation, maintaining rigorous hygiene standards, and contributing to daily service across a five-day working week, including weekends and evenings. The position suits someone passionate about cooking who wishes to develop their culinary skills. A full driving licence is essential due to the location. Manpower Recruitment are working with an established Restaurant in the Wallingford area, Oxfordshire and are recruiting for a Commis Chef. This is a great role for someone, who is passionate about food and enjoys learning new skills within a busy kitchen. This is a Full Time role, working 5/7 days and flexibility needed for weekends and evenings.

The salary is £26,500 per annum, with flexibility for negotiation. Salary £26500pa please note a driving would bee needed, due to location.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will support senior chefs in food preparation, maintain high standards of hygiene, and contribute to delivering quality dishes consistently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of food across various kitchen sections.
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications set by senior chefs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in line with food safety standards.
  • Ensure all ingredients are stored, labelled, and handled correctly.
  • Support stock rotation (FIFO) and assist with deliveries and stock control.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team during busy service periods.
  • Adhere to all health and safety and food hygiene regulations.
Requirements
  • Previous kitchen experience or relevant culinary qualification preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • A genuine passion for food and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
