The Job Profile

Simon & Schuster UK is seeking a motivated Commercial Finance professional for this newly created role within the Commercial Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, the successful candidate will provide strategic financial support, robust analysis, cost control, and commercial insights, with recommendations to enhance profitability and support business decisions across the Adult Publishing Division.

The Job Role

As the Commercial Finance Manager for the Adult Publishing Division, you will offer financial insight and support throughout the publishing lifecycle, from acquisition to post-publication analysis.

You will collaborate with Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Publicity, and Production teams to provide commercial guidance, evaluate financial performance, and support strategic initiatives through financial modelling, cost control, and clear, data-driven recommendations.

With guidance from the Head of Commercial Finance, you will lead monthly divisional meetings, oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to inform decision-making and drive profitability.

The Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a similar commercial finance or financial reporting role. They should have a strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business partnering, preferably within a publishing or media environment.

Essential skills include excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Attention to detail, deadline management, and a proactive problem-solving approach are crucial.

Experience working with senior stakeholders and providing insightful financial recommendations to improve business performance is highly desirable.
